So here’s what I’m up to tonight for dinner:

Moosewood Lighter Lasagne_, which we’ve made and enjoyed many, many times — can you tell from the state of the recipe? — and makes great use of all the summer produce out there right now.
However, this is what I’ve been up to this week:

That’s right! Local Food Week is again approaching in the Pikes Peak region, running Sept. 20-27. There are lots of events for LFW that I will talk about on the site, but the one I’m hosting will again be the Pikes Peak Recipe Challenge. Last year, participants sent in recipes to be judged and the winners were announced at Ecofestival. It’s still a great event — check it out here — but didn’t coincide with our Local Food Week, and so this year’s event is somewhat re-imagined.
PIKES PEAK RECIPE CHALLENGE POTLUCK
What: A one-day event where contest participants and their families get together to sample their best recipes using local, seasonal ingredients. Recipe will be submitted in advance (or the day of, depending on circumstances), and will be sampled by judges and the party as a whole. Ranch Foods Direct will be on hand to sample local meats, and other local sponsors will hand out great information and coupons.
When: Sunday, Sept. 26 from 1-3 p.m.
Where: Care and Share warehouse
Prizes: The grand prize, donated by the lovely folks at CHEFS Warehouse Outlet Store, is a Breville JE95XL Juice Fountain Plus with a value of $200. Other prizes include cooking classes, fresh local meat and seasonal produce baskets, with others to be announced.
More news is soon to follow, and we’ll soon have a portion of the Local Dish Web site dedicated to answering all your questions and facilitating your entries. For now… stay tuned!
And bear with me. I’m busy!
